Web 2.0 Tools

I really like this website, Mindomo, because it allows students to complete problem solving activities that may be required for class. In many situations, students at secondary grade levels, are assigned to complete many written assignments.  Before completing these assignments, students are required to brainstorm and organize their ideas. For students who have trouble with completing writing assignments, this particular tool can be very helpful. Students will also be able to work with other students on written assignments while using this tool.

Skype seems to be a very interesting website tool that allows students to communicate with students in other countries. This tool can be useful for students who are studying culture, countries, and different styles of living. Through using this particular tool, students will be able to have on-line communication with people, which is a form of engagement. Also students will share their ideas and opinions on issues they feel are relevant to discuss (collaboration). It is important to note that you can use this tool without paying anything when one uses the video communication methods.

I like the Abiword website because it allows students to work together on school documents. As I mentioned before, writing skills has been a major concern for teachers over the past years. Students who have difficulty completing written assignments may benefit from using cooperative learning strategies. Students can be paired with other students who have stronger writing skills and they can work on documents together and discuss strategies and ideas for each of their assignments.

Doodlewall website seems to be an effective tool for students who would like to discuss specific questions from class.  Students will be able to use a white board and share ideas and thoughts about anything that is concerning to them. I find that this particular tool will be beneficial for students who would like to review math problems with each other. Students can also exchange their ideas and thoughts about class lessons. http://doodlewall.com/

Students will be able to have study with each other online and review specific topics that are interesting to him. The students are asked to create flash cards to help them review important topics. I like that students are able to have study sessions online through using flashcards and  a discussion board to explain their concerns with each other.
